MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

MEMBERSHIP OF THE INSTITUTE

In accordance with the provisions of Section 4(1) of the establishing Act, individuals admitted to the membership of the Institute must be registered as members and possess adequate knowledge, experience, and qualifications in the field of intermodal transportation and related disciplines specified under this Act. Members will be enrolled in one of the following categories:

Requirements & Process

1 GENERAL REQUIREMENT FOR ENROLMENT OF MEMBERS

All applicants must meet specific requirements based on their desired membership category.

2 EXAMINATION AND INTERVIEW PROCESS

All applicants for Membership will be required to undergo intensive training and written examinations conducted by the Training and Education Committee of the Institute, with a pass mark of 75% for membership category and 60% for Associate category.

All applications, submission and processing will be online.

Following the examination, an interview will be conducted by the Membership and Planning Committee before approval of membership.

3 GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION

Oral Interview

Candidates will undergo an oral interview to assess their professional competencies.

Interview Duration

The interview be for a duration of between 20 and 30 minutes, conducted by at least two expert panel members with a minimum of ten years of professional experience in the transport sector.

Presentation

Candidates will be given 5 to 10 minutes at the beginning of the interview to provide a brief, uninterrupted verbal presentation about their professional competencies.

Panel Focus

After the presentation, the panel will ask questions related to the candidate's area of expertise, based on the application.

Confidentiality

The panel members are bound by CIoTA's code of ethics to maintain confidentiality regarding the assessment and any provided information/data.

4 INDUCTION PROCESS

Induction into the all categories of Membership of the Institute shall be carried out twice a year: mid-year and at the end of the year during the annual national transport conference.

Special inductions may be carry out base on need assessment.

5 FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS BY ALL NEW MEMBERS

New members must pay two years' annual subscriptions in advance prior to induction.

New members are required to pay non-refundable examination fees depending on the category of membership.
